The story of an hour

          This story brought to me back in date when I was in law's school in Dominican Republic many years ago, I remained read many book's history of 18th century where the women took a second place in society. Mr and Mrs. Mallard have a traditional marriage however  Mrs. Mallard's live was miserable and women by that time must follow their husband's rule. Chopin illustrate pretty well this when she wrote "free body free soul" which is indicate that Mrs. Mallard has been released from a prison's life, something that women could not do by themselves. Now I remembered my grandmother says when you get marriage in a church is for life however, my mother one time try to convince her  divorce because my grandfather was a womanizer but she always has the same answer marriage is for life and we have have to cope with that issue. 

         Let explain what I see a positive side of this story. There are many signs of life in the story that represent a re-birth of Mrs. Mallard after her husband's death and  I inference that she live each day in terror and was pressed down by a physical exhaustion that haunted her body. Now her husband is dead she sees the new potential for life. Most of the story deals with her quick acceptance of her husband's death and her quick acceptance which mean own her life. The title would seem to reinforce this idea of quick acceptance. It indicates that her important transition took place within one hour, in my case the lost of my father still alive in my heart after many years. Does Mrs. Mallard's joy of her freedom cause her dead because of her weak heart?
