question 1

This week I had to read 3 very different stories with the same meaning. What all these stories had in common was the relationship between an man and woman whether it be friendship or a romantic relationship. The common message in all these stories stories is companionship. No matter if it is romantic or not, everybody deserves and needs someone to talk to when they get lonely. My favorite story I read this week was "Dubliners" by James Joyce. This story really describes the companionship a person needs. Mr. Duffy has been on his own for his entire life. goes home to an empty space, no friends, barely any family, but the sight of one woman changed his was way of life.He now has someone to laugh with, talk to, enjoy the day with. After she was gone, she was all back to being alone. Everyone needs someone to talk to during the day, nobody wants to be alone. In the story "Catheral" by Raymond Carver, Robert, the blind man, develops a 10 year friendship with a woman. They tell each other everything including the dark times and the good days. I myself have a girlfriend and I like to think i can tell her everything, but i can't. I have one best friend. That best friend is here for me no matter what. The things I can't tell my girlfriend, I tell him. No matter what it is we as humans must get our feelings out in one form or another. Companionship is a very important part of human life, we need it to live a happy life. These stories tell us that have a friendship with a person, no matter what kind of relationship it is, makes us happy. No one wants to be alone, it is our jobs to make sure when we get older, we will never have to be alone.
