The Story of an Hour

In the “Story of an Hour” writing by Kate Chopin, the author explain about Mrs. Mallard and her husband Brently Mallard. Mrs. Mallard was with her sister Josephine when she heard about her husband’s death. They said her husband die in a train’s accident. After the news she decide to go to her home. while she is thinking she feel sad and happy about the death because she will have her freedom of living her own life, also she will miss him a little bit because she love him. Suddenly they hear someone open the door it was her husband. She was so happy she died by heart trouble.

I’m not going to judge Mrs. Mallard but I see she had dream too fast about a new life. In one hand I understand the happiness of Mrs. Mallard because the way she react make me see she has been neglect by her husband and maybe her husband has taking power over her. For example, I think her husband doesn’t make friendship with her, she could not express her feeling or thoughts. In the story they explain she was sad at the same time happy. What I realize must of the time when two people fall in love when they get marry this love usually change because the way they were when they were outside of marriage is become totally different. In the real life before marriage the boy used to bring flowers, go to the movie with her girlfriend, laugh together etc. after two or three months of living in couple all this good attitude disappear. In the beginning everything is perfect, but after the boy or the girl realize that that’s not the right person to live with. Is at this moment they become confuse. I think that’s what happen to Mrs. Mallard. For her the death will change everything, she will be able to live comfortable without a man.
Generally, for us (girl or boy) to be happy we need someone romantic, someone we can share ideas with, and someone that will be present when we need it. Someone that make our life have a meaning. If we don’t have these we will still be alive, but as someone who has died.
