Reading response #2 How

How written by Lorrie Moore.

The story seems to be a warning towards females who move to fast in their relationships and end up cheating. The author gives the reader a look into the possible mindset of females who cheat and I enjoyed reading it. Each transition, every thought this lady was having seemed ripped from the script of every love story. The fact that she met at that time the man of her dreams was sketchy to me. I liked how whenever the author showed what the lady was truly feeling it was her second guessing herself. At first I thought the husband was going to cheat, and the story was going to be this ladies short recovery. The way Lorrie Moore kept this ladies true feelings hidden until she cheated was brilliant in my opinion. I couldn't tell the way the story was going until after the wife had left the bar, and began to plot how she was going to leave him. It was a nice way of showing that men are not the only ones that are turned off by a certain level of commitment in relationships. The wife seemed to be scared off when she realized that he would want children and in her mind she just was not ready for that and that's when her interest in him began to fade away. My favorite part of this story was the end when the wife was hurt when the idea of seeing him somewhat not care of her existence.
