Reading response #2

I choose to talk about “The Sun, The Moon, The Stars” by Junot Diaz. In this story the narrator talk about himself Ronise and what was happen to her relationship with his girlfriend Magdalena. Yunior is the boyfriend of Magdalena; he cheated on her that make a radical change between them.

When I read the story I can clearly see that they both love each other but because of what happen Magdalena does not trust him anymore. I understand why she change with him. Most of the girl could have the same reaction as Magdalena because when you love someone, you give that person your heart and he/she breaks it in pieces that’s hard to forgive. The most problem in the story is that even though Yunior tell the truth but he did not make himself in position to say yes I am wrong I should not act like that but he keep saying “I’m not a bad guy.” Someone who did something wrong and do not have courage to blame himself that person will continue to do the same thing because he will see that’s is normal to act like that. Usually boy who cheated on his girlfriend does not believe an himself and he does not respect his girlfriend because when you love someone you become blind even though you will find other girl that more beautiful than your girlfriend but you will put in your mind that it is true that girl is beautiful bus not as much as my girl and your girlfriend will have the priority in your life. You will be too busy by trying how to keep your relationship alive that you will not see anybody else. Yunior also say he could not resist with the woman he cheated. It’s always like that they always find an excuse to be good to make girl feel is not their fault. My question is why often girl resist from cheating? I think girls are more responsible than boy and also girl usually want to have a serious relationship base on fidelity, trust, love etc.

What message do you think these authors are giving about romantic relationships and friendships?

The authors try to help us understand that most of the time love can be complicate and only one little mistake can break the happiness of two lovers. Also, fidelity is the base of relationship what you don’t want your girlfriend to do on you you should not do it too because that could have bad impact and you’ll lose a true love for only a few minutes of being cool with another.

What in the stories helps you support that this is the message they are communicating?

When the author say Magdalena send her a letter to tell him she is dating another person. Also, when Yunior say “I sat down next to her. Took her hand. This can work, all we have to do is try”. This part is really sad but that’s make me see sometime love can forgive but not all the time. I think if Yunior was the first who tell Magdalena about what was happen between him and Cassandra they will not separate because when you tell the truth you have more chance to be forgiving by someone. Unfortunately, only one thing make both of them take a different direction.
