Reading Response #1 - Questions

Hello there!

Welcome to our blog site!  Please remember that your reading responses are due at 6PM on Fridays!  Every week you'll have about 2 to 3 short stories to read.  You have to submit ONE reading response of 300 words.  You get to decide if you want to respond to ONE of the questions below or write about a subject of your own.  PLEASE DO NOT SUMMARIZE THE STORIES - THIS IS NOT THE PURPOSE OF THE WRITING EXERCISE.

Each week I'll provide questions for each story - it is up to YOU to choose ONE question!  Please DO NOT respond to ALL the questions listed below.

Pick one question below!

1.  Each story describes a relationship between a man and a woman.  What message do you think these authors are giving about romantic relationships and friendships?  What in the stories helps you support that this is the message they are communicating?

2.  Discuss what kind of impact substances such as drugs (marijuana) and alcohol have on these three stories.  How do these characters utilize these substances? What kind of significance do you think they have on the stories you've read?

    Hello there! I think I made this clear in class: it takes me a few days to post questions. So, if you'd like to get your homework done sooner rather than later, you are welcome to write about an aspect of the stories that most interested you. But, I did just post the questions.
